Chives will grow well indoors in pots in a sunny spot or outdoors in full sun. This easy-to-grow herb adds a mild onion flavor to soups, salads, egg, and potato dishes. After frosts have ended, sow seeds 1/4″ deep. Sow several seeds near each other so the seedlings will form clumps. Water regularly and fertilize if needed. Harvest the plant tips for an ongoing supply of fresh, tender leaves. Not only are the stems and leaves used to flavor dishes, flowers are also edible and can be used in salads or to make vinegars. When planting; place the soil pellet into the polybag with 3 tablespoons of water and wait for the soil to expand. Once expanded push the top of the planter into the box and fill it with soil. Plant the seeds so that they are covered in soil and water as needed. Once your seedlings reach 2-3″ recycle the polybag and plant the entire paper planter into a larger container or in a soil plot outdoors once the danger of frost has passed.
